Podiatry is a respected allied health profession focused on issues affecting the health of your feet, ankles and lower limbs. At Spine Sport Feet we have two dedicated Podiatrists, Catherine and Peter, who are experienced in treating a wide variety of conditions.
Podiatrists are university educated health professionals who must undertake degrees including clinical training over 4 years.
Podiatry care services may be covered by valid medicare card, Health Care rebates, GP care plans and DVA, depending on patient circumstances.
Podiatrists provide diagnosis and treatment of many conditions and ailments of the feet and lower limbs, including:
Foot and lower limb pain can be acute (short term) or chronic (long term). Our Podiatry Clinic can assist in both the diagnosis and management of foot and lower limb pain. In some cases, pain in other areas of the body may be coming from a functional problem in your feet. We provide a full biomechanical assessment to diagnose the issue and provide short and long term treatment plans. This service can also provide solutions for preventative care for arthritis in the feet.
Our leading podiatrists can provide orthotics to assist with the management of your foot conditions.
Orthotics may be custom made (custom foot orthotics) and these are manufactured using a 3D scanner after a biomechanical examination. Orthotics can also be modified off-the-shelf devices which are prescribed specifically to your feet after a biomechanical examination.
Health care rebates may also be available for orthotics.
Nail cutting for those who cannot reach or bend to their toes. This can be due to having back trouble, post-operative or just not able to quite get down to your toes without a struggle.
We can reduce cracks and remove hard skin on heels to help reduce lesions and infection. Removal of callous and corns to help your feet feel better and get you back moving without pain.
We can also provide padding to offload the pressure areas to keep you on your feet longer. Reduction of thickened nails using a gentle method to reduce pain at the nail and enhance appearance.
Ingrown toenails are a common complaint and can be extremely uncomfortable. They can be acute (short term) or chronic (long term) and sometimes involve an infection.
Treatment of ingrown toenails can involve cutting the nail to remove the nail’s ingrown portion and reshaping the nail to allow better regrowth. If required, a local anaesthetic can be used to make this process more comfortable.
In certain situations permanent removal of a portion of the toenail and prevention of regrowth is required to achieve a good long term outcome, however this will only be considered after consultation with your podiatrist. Please note that any surgical or invasive procedure carries risk. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
If you suffer from these or other foot problems, we are here to help. Book an appointment to see a Gold Coast podiatrist at Spine Sport Feet clinic or phone (07) 5580 5655.
